Cheese & Marmite Cake

Stuck for something to make your loved one? Have they run out of space on their Pandora charm bracelet? Worry not - these little charms will fill them with a love that cannot quite be put into words. Containing carbohydrates, fat, protein and extra vitamin B, you could live on these. And don't panic if they're not overkeen on Marmite - they'll convert even the most ardent hater.

Ingredients

1 egg
200g sugar
60ml oil (cooking oil is best - engine oil tends to overpower the other flavours)
375g flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons baking powder
250ml milk
100g butter
3 or 4 teaspoons Marmite
200g grated cheese

1. Preheat oven to 180C
2. Stick the egg and sugar in a blender and mix well
3. Add the oil to this and do the same
4. Add the flour, salt, baking powder and milk to this and mix well
5. Stick the mixture into an 8"x8" silicon baking tray and put in the oven for 40 minutes
6. Put the butter and marmite into a cup and melt in the microwave. Stir it well, the pour all over the hot cake
7. Spread the grated cheese over the cake and stick it back in the oven until the cheese is melted.
8. While it's still soft, slice through the cheese into about 16 pieces. If you wait until the cheese is set again it'll be a lot more difficult to cut.

While it perfectly fine to eat cold, it's a lot better warmed in the microwave for thirty seconds or so. Enjoy!
